first sorry if this is the wrong place to post this
i'm trying to backup my copy of the movie dog soldiers region 4 ive tried just manually riping the files and tried using dvddecrypter dvdfabdecrypter
but when it gets to 95 perecent it stops and cant read the last 5 percent ive tried to diff dvdroms no luck i thought maybe the orginal dvd is currupted towards the end so i had a look at the disc and i only see light scuff marks nothing really that i think would cause read errors i then manually play the currupted VOB on the orginal dvd with vlc player and i get errors towards the end of the scene and stops prematurely its on the extras part of the dvd where vlc player shows the length to be about 10mins but stops at around 9mins is this dvd still backable or can i cut out this 10min clip so i can backup the rest of the dvd or just keep the good 9mins and cut out the currupted 1min i also get errors opening in DVD Shrink as well it asked for a missing VOB file a missing file that not even on the orginal dvd

If it is corrupt in the Extra's part of the disc then use DVD Decrypter and just rip the movie. Then transcode the movie. It might not have to be transcoded if you do movie only due to it being small enough to fit onto a DVD5 disc.

It does seem that the disc is scratched or has a flaw in it from being manufatured. You could always try to get a DVD repiar kit and try to repair the scuffed marks on the DVD. I have used repair kits on a few DVD's that where scratched or scuffed and it worked,

If you want to try to just rip the main movie with DVD Decrypter do the below...

Start DVD Decrypter
Choose TOOLS/SETTINGS/FILEMODE TAB

Now under the pull down menu that says ON STARTUP should be a selecetion that will rip the main movie only. Choose that then click OK.

Now set DVD Decrypter in FILE Mode. Do this by doing MODE/FILE

Now DVD Decrypter should only have the MAIN movie added to rip.

hey thanx for your reply i actually would like to have some of the extras to not the 10min clip thats corrupted maybe but some of the other extras which arent corrupted and play fine i think though if i delete the corrupted VOB and open the rest in dvdshrink i'll get errors wont 1 i'll try soon and let you know
