Hello. I've been having a problem with my DL speed using Azureus (Normally hovers around 20kb/s) ever since my friends got me to download it. I've tried everything I can think of. Using PortForward.com and opening the required ports to opening all of my ports using the DMZ option in my router. I've been to several sites that will test your speed that I've seen in these forums and I'm at 1095kbps DL. I'm not sure what I can do next. If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it.

If it helps, I have a 2Wire 1000SW router. DSL Connection. Hmm, not sure what else to post.

Ah, normally I'll have about 17-ish seeders and over 50 peers. Also, I saw the Utorrent post - I'll try that and compare the speeds.

@Joviana, Well theres your problem:
Quote:

That is one b**th of a torrent, there are more peers than seeds, seeds are people sharing the file, they can only upload a certain ammount at one time as we all know, with 50 peers who are seeking the file, only a tiny ammount can be shared with you.

Get yourself a better seeded torrent :-D

@Alien, Cheers mate :-D

like he said
but u got the issue better than me

my first torrent was a 2000leecher/100-200seeds

most leechers were hardcore and trained to set upload speed to 1 kb's

which shocked me bout torrent speeds so i learned my lesson quick one guide fixed the thing

All right! I tried the Utorrent, followed all of the instructions down pact. Got it up and running, and I was still getting -about- the same speed on the same torrent as with Azureus. So, I decided to test the seed/peer theory. I looked for some music and got a nice seed/peer ratio and started off around 10-20kb/s and after about 5min it speed up to 40-50 then after about 2min I was cruising at about 100-150kb/s. Not the 200-300kb/s some of my other friends claim to be getting, but it works for me. Thank you for the very helpful information guys!

I just wanted to point out that putting yourself in the DMZ is NOT RECOMMENDED NOR SHOULD IT EVER HAVE BEEN RECOMMENDED AS A PERMENANT FIX.

DMZ'ing for downloads is ONLY so you can troubleshoot and see if it's your computer or your router that is messing w/ your speeds.

Again, GET OUT OF THE DMZ.

There have been some HORRIBLE tutorials floating around, such as the ones telling people to use UPnP AND enabling forwarding rules.

if you are on service pack 2 u may need to patch tcpip.sys
there is a simple patch floating around i'll find it wait

http://www.lvllord.de/download.php?url=en/EvID4226Patch223d-en.zip

there u go just make the no to 100 or 120
don't go like an idiot and do like 50000
cause if a worm hits your computer with that setting your in deep shit
and when the warning shows when the patch is waiting click cancel>yes
no u'll wait like a minute before getting 150-200kb maybe more if that was your problem

My downloads are also very slow. around 20kb/sec if im lucky and i'm using utorrent with forwarded ports on a cable connection. I'm also getting a good amount of peers on my downloads but it only downloads from some of them and downloads real slow off of them and i have no idea what else to do to get my dowloads faster. any suggestions?
