Best tip I can offer is don't max out your upload speed, my max upload is 40 so I set it to not go over 30. Hope this helps a bit.

So be it then, if you want speed get a better connection, good luck getting turbo charged torrent download speeds on dial up connections and stuff like that.

The only difference between the two are settings speed wise, if you want to increase download speeds you can try software like Cfosspeed, theres not much else you can do, I dont think there was anything wrong with the previous post Sniping_G, I didnt say it was easy, was simply asnwering his qeustion ;)

I'd just like to say for about the bazillionth time, and no offense here sniping, I'd just like to ASK anyway, for people to NOT recommend other clients as a fix for someones speed problem.
The way I see it here is that, in learning how to do things for yourself, asking questions, and reading everything you can is empowerment, and is subverting the dominant paradigm. Every freedom I know how to express is a freedom you cannot take away from me. Make sense?
Just because some programs might work better out of the box for noobs should have no bearing on that persons ability to achieve good speeds. As I've said dozens of times, if setup correctly, all clients will achieve the same speeds. If anything, Azureus will win by 1-10k/s, because of the minute tweaks found within its settings.
But anyway--my point is, we want MORE, BETTER EDUCATED people running p2p apps. I feel like you should have to do a little legwork to get the goodies, you know? RTFM and all that. (Read the Manual) It's when something gets too easy, too spoonfed, and too mainstream that it goes all to hell. Napster/Kazaa cases in point. Heck, mainstream mp3 ripping, for that matter. I remember back on my p1 133 how I needed a batch file and 3 separate command line programs to rip 1 mp3 from cd, lol.
But anyway, I digress. I'd just like to encourage everyone to learn how to help themselves as opposed to giving them a diaper...I always expect the same when I ask a question!

Yup, people seem the think uTorrent is the ultimate client for speed, I'm only using it because I'm now for fammiler with it, Azereus had loads more features, stuff that you can't do in uTorrent.
Why people always suggest it when there is a thread on slow speeds I dunno...
For example,
------------------------
Person A:
"My torrent speeds are slow, I am using xxxyyyzzz client and have a xxxyyzz connection speed, shouldn't they be downloading faster?"
Person B:
"Try uTorrent, its faster than xxxyyyzzz"
------------------------
Thats not the right answer, person A themselves needed to suply more info, info like this you should always ask for, like ifn they are behind a router, etc.
Not bashing anyone, just helping :-)
http://www.plucky.org/ has some p2p tuts you may benifit from.
