take off the faceplate, and on the button bar press the start pressy bit lol and see if its not the button not contacting the contact, sorry thats a bit confusing lol

well is it hard to take off the faceplate,i read the guide and seems ok,should i try it?,well i wait for more suggestions but us is my number 1 backup plan:)

the faceplate is a piece of p!ss to take off lol, no risk at all as its not connected to any main parts etc, you got nothing to lose except your warranty lol

Well it just sounds like it's stuck or not contacting the pad, you have 3 options:
1.Open it up yourself and fix it, voiding your warranty.
2.Go to your local Games shop and see if they offer some sort of repairing service.
3.If you had it sent by postage, break the clip that closes the UMD tray and send it back saying it arrived like that, that's what i've done before.

pff repair shops wont know psp's. Read my Guide, Opening a PSP, which is sticked and youll be fine. You need a tiny screwdriver though. and you might void your warranty.

well my friend had it for years so ill just tell him to open it following your guide iPirate (congratz on ur adaddict),lol as long as it doesnt deal with messing with the main hardware im ok with that

well he said it happend after his psp was exposed to rain but is there away you can change that whole pasrt of the psp?

if the mobo got wet than its bad. but if the start button doesnt work, mmmmhmmmm. gimme a sec.
ok the start button is a little plastic strip along with the others, that i think goes to the mobo. If that got wet then maybe the mobo is damaed there. Does the psp work at all?
