Nero 7.0.8.2 Demo won't burn DVD+R but succeeds with DVD+RWs

Hi everyone, this forum looks to be a very helpful one so I was wondering if anyone could be of assistance?
I'm using Nero 7.0.8.2 as frequently suggested here, and I'm using pretty good media (Sony DVD+RW, verified by the CDFreak's DVD Identifier) but I can't ever get DVD+Rs to burn, although DVD+RWs burn just fine. I've tried multiple times, all with the same results - the DVD+R will start up barely, and fail very early, maybe at about 2% through. The DVD+RW always burns correctly and cleanly. If it matters, I'm using a Sony DVD+RW laptop drive on a Dell 600m, which is ironic since their Sony DVDs don't work...
