put the dax and the dax% folders in your game folder and the x on the root then put the monster hunter dax file into your iso folder

It isn't all that confusing.

When in the compresser, choose CSO to DAX.

Then try loading with devhook.

i have decompressed the dax to an iso and it tells me that it is a WinRAR file is that right? i then downloaded umdgen and saved it as an iso (still comes up as an WinRAR file) i renamed as an iso hope that is cool. when i go to run it on devhook do i need any of the other files i mentiones that came with the original folder? and do i have to run it in firmware 2.71? thanks for your interest

It just means that you have iso files associated with WinRAR, its not a problem.

cso is a compressed iso file that is compatible with devhook, I would suggest using the ciso converter tool compress your isos to cso.

Yes, on Cico you can choose what compression level you want, and compressing/converting games is what it was made for.
