i have had several problems using nero to convert my avi films as in the useal picture being upside down i was told to try this TPMGEnc thing but there another problem it has audio and video converting and everytime i try it only converts the audio it does no accept any video of the avi file can anyone help me with this please i really want to get my movies onto a vcd sometime in the next millenium:)

Looks like the original AVI-file is actually XviD. If this is the case, downloading and installing XviD-codecs works. I have had that same problem earlier, and this solution worked for me.
You can get the XviD-codecs from here at AfterDawn.com...

thanks godfinger i will try to find those codecs but my problem is after i encode it with nero it plays upside down on my dvd player and with TMPGEnc it dosnt pick up video at all so i will try to find this xvid coec and see if it help thanks again dude!

it could be divx also

but if the avi PLAYS fine on ur comp, then u already have the required codec to play your avi (whether it be a divx, xvid, etc.)

Are you sure all of your settings in TMPGenc are correct for the vcd mpeg1 format?

when i burnt my first vcd, vcdhelp.com helped a lot

ok man thanks i checked out vcd help it seems to have helped alot i read a tutorial and after it encodes the video now and i see if it all worked out well i will let you know by posting another messege only it will be about 3 hours because thats how long it says it will to encode:) but thanks again

now another question i see the movie here in front of me being encoded in TPMGEnc and its moving in slow frames now that dosnt mean the movie will go that slow after i burn it and watch it riht?

Do you need to encode an xvid to an mpeg-1 for it to fit onto a dvd-r? (any standard movie)

god finger the problem was i hadnt had the correct settings in TMPGEnc so i checked it out at VCD help and solved it
