How did you resolve this, did you force him to take it back?

To be totally honest you have to look at the full picture.

Firstly the XT is supposed to have a memory speed of 730 (2x365) so why did you buy a version that was listed as clocking 200 less than the XT is supposed to?
Normally people state the clock speed as 365 which equates to 730, so listing it at 500 should put it at 1000.

Was the box sealed as stated? if so, then just do a check on the batch/rev number to see if there are any known issues with that release.

That card uses DDR memory 230x2 =460 still 40 short of the 500 he stated, and 270 short of what the XT should do.

If however the documentation says the same as he listed on the advert, then you have an issue with the card manufacturer, not his advertising.

That core speed is the same as the pro version, so not sure what you have got.
Maybe send the manufacturer an email with the serial number etc... and see if they confirm the card is an XT.

If the seller agrees to accept a return after that, then take it, if not, you are in dodgy ground, as the manufacturer may not accept a return on goods bought on eBay.

As for the advert stating that as one of the best cards available, then that is laughable at best, and as for the retail price being £379 (on what planet is that).

There are too many discrepancies between what you got and what an XT should be for my liking.

LOl I didn't notice that, The 9800XT was never £400, not even when it was released, let alone three years after. I think he's a fraud, and I wouldn't expect much co-operation rom him with returning the item. It doesn't sound like a Pro because the memory speed is so low, I think it's a faulty card that's been sold on.

LOLOL! I didn't get to keep the box for my X1900XT, the stuff was shoved in the motherboard box. That's fair enough, but he has one up on me, he has an extra box! :P
