hi, i just downloaded something from the net. they were 2 seasons of a show. 1 season is in AVI formet and the other is in dvix.

the one in AVI formet is about 2 GB. but the second season, the one in dvix formet is about 7 GB.

i dont understand y this is. and is there a way to make the dvix smaller to about 3 GB.

because the quality is the same for both when i watch it on tv and on the computer.

can some1 tell me if there is a way to shrink the dvix file or make it smaller somehow. and also when i go to burn it on a dvd with Nero. Nero wont let me because its not a AVI. so how can i convert it thx.

thx again..

open the files in AutoGK select the size you want and choose XviD as the codec (everything else leave to Auto).
Than convert.

it will be AVI and the quaity shouldbe closeto the same if you convert it to a good bitrate, but there is the possibily of some quality loss.

Quality loss isn't just a possibility, it is a fact. XviD (and all other MPEG-4 Part 2 encoders) is a lossy codec.

If you remux from DivX to AVI, then you should save some space since menus, subtitles, etc. will be left out.

If you are burning, then it is the size of the files that matters. If you are converting to DVD video, then the size doesn't matter at all.
