Hi guys,
I have been thinking of trying the remote control function of IRShell for a while, but my DVD player and TV are both unsupported by the codes on remotecentral.com
I have googled and downloaded a couple of tools (CFF Extractor and hv2pronto), but I am not 100% sure if what I am planning to do is the correct thing to do.
So, my TV is a UK brand called Goodmans. It's crappy but was cheap.
I got these Goodmans codes -
065, 064, 100, 285, 037, 292, 544, 207, 318,363, 399, 402, 515
from here - http://www.satelliteonline.co.uk/sky_remote_codes.htm
If I input 065 into hv2pronto, I get this hex code -
0000 006c 0022 0002 0160 00b0 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0580 0160 0058 0016 0dc0
Is this the code that I need to create an .rdf file using notepad?
This is part of a .rdf file that came with IRShell.

It looks similar to the code that hv2pronto created, so can I use that code, structure a file like the one above and control my device? I hope so, but the problem is that I don't know which original code out of 065, 064, 100, 285, 037, 292, 544, 207, 318,363, 399, 402, 515
controls my TV. Is there a way I could find which one it is? It's a bitch that I don't have a universal remote lying around or I could use that to find it out.
Any ideas, links or tuts you guys know of? It'd be a great help.
Peace

i have tried it too. it didnt work for me. i have a syvania brand tv and i downloaded the same programs u did. since there was no irs code for my tv brand, i had to go and do it myself. i used the programs and copied and pasted the codes to the notepad and dragged it to the irshell code folder on my psp duo card. but when i tried using my psp as a remote, the top right red light is lid and started blinking every time i pressed the buttons. but nothing happened. my tv wouldnt turn off or turn on. i had been trying to get it work for like 2 hours and finally i gave up, it is useless!

Yeah, I found this
http://www.phpbber.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=1094&mforum=irshell#1094
which shows you how to convert a CCF to an RDF, but I need to change those basic 3 digit IR codes into either CCF or RDF, and cannot really find out how to do it. I think that hv2pronto thing might be right, but I am not 100%. I think once you have the right code, you can designate which shortcut or button controls what function, but I am not sure how to figure out the code for individual functions either, that hv2pronto app just spits out the one block of code.
I guess I'll keep looking around. Thanks for lending a hand dude, every bit of info will be helpful ;-)

what a concidence, that is the same guide i found when i started doing my own irshell code. i found that while i was doing a google search. well i did everything that was on that thread and at the end, i didnt get it work. i find this a complete waste of time. i've tried everything from coding to designating each of the functions to the right keys. well if u got it to work, i would be happy if u share it with me.

I just found out that Goodmans TVs use the Philips TV code set, which they have on remotecentral.com, so I'll try it out tomorrow using that tutorial.
You could try searching to see if your TV uses the code set of a more popular brand, I think a lot of lesser known companies do. Then from a CCF, it seems relatively simple to convert it for IRshell, using that tut above.
Good luck if you have another go at it! I'll post back with how I get on tomorrow.
