Well I dont know what the problem is. This first happened with Robot Chicken, now the Venture Brothers. You see the problem is these winamp media files play fine in winamp, Real Player, and DivX. However when I try to burn them, or even try to watch them with Nero the audio is WAY off, like 10 seconds or so. It happens with every file. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hello.

This is an age-old problem. Most of the time, these files have been edited and converted such that the timestamps needed to keep the audio and video in sync are missing. If the audio and video are off the same from the beginning to the end it's fairly easy to fix. Usually it is the case that the audio and video start together and then go off sync.

Try a different conversion program and see if the problem persists. Try ConvvertXtoDVD. It has a free trial although the output is watermarked. You will at least know if the problem is in the file or in Nero.

Different versions of Nero seem to do a better job of keeping sync than others. Some people seem to have better results with Nero 6.6.0.18 than any of the Nero 7 versions. If you upgrade or downgrade, be sure to go to the Nero site and download and run the appropriate Clean Tool for removing the particular version of Nero you have before installing a different version.

Nero 6.6.0.18: Package 1: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe
Package 2: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

Sometimes out of sync problems are caused by using poor quality media and burning that poor quality media at too fast a speed. If you're using Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, or Made in Japan labeled Fuji or Sony media and burning at 8X or less speed, that isn't likely the problem. Otherwise try burning at 4X or using a better quality media.

The last fix is a difficult one. To resync you have to stip the audio from the video and then resync them together. This is not an easy process and isn't worth the effort in most cases.

Yep, just checked and its off right from the start, and only when I use Nero (even when I use Nero showtime just to view it) but plays fine with any other app I open it with (like winamp, DivX, etc...). I guess I dont know how it all works but how do the other programs play it flawlessly, yet Nero misses the "timestamp" or whatever?

To me this seems like yet another buggy flaw of Nero. I will try using convertxtodvd, but it just really sucks that you buy a product and realize it does not work so you have to buy another. I have had problem after problem with Nero 7, I have already installed 3 updates and still Nero cant deliver. RGGGGGGGH! It just burns me up. Nero is so broken, I cant believe they can keep selling thier buggy software.

Oh well, thanks for the advice, hopefully this other program will help.

I and many others share your disappointment in Nero. It's great when it works, but when it doesn't.......

Just wanted to say ConvertXtoDVD worked wonderfully. No lag, perfect sync, verry happy with the results. I mean Nero is cool because you can make your own backgrounds, add music, etc (although you may be able to do that with ConvertX as well, havent explored it too deeply) but with the whole out of sync audio I will be putting Nero on the back burner until they provide a patch thats actually worthwhile and fixes things. Funny though how when you try to report problems to Nero they respond UNLESS you say you want a refund for thier buggy software, then you get ZERO reply. :)
