Well, how was i to know you had no other HD, or an OS for that matter?
You hadn't exactly suppled much information on what kind of system you have..

As for that error code, it means it needs a driver...
Try google for "sata error code 10" without the quotation marks, you'll see what i mean...

I typed that board name into google and got their homepage.
I clicked the link for support, then chose the drivers catagory but it had a choice for board specs also to learn more about what you are using. There are SATA drivers on that page. If you are missing them you may want to upgrade BIOS conviently on same page.

That is the BIOS update, did you want to do the hard drive first, or that?
If you want the BIOS too, this is a floppy disc the file is on right? Can you just press Q to update? If the system works and you have a floppy disc, you should be able to setup your computer to boot from it and it should take care of itself. Never used Asrock BIOS so not totally sure how its setup. I'd say try to load that driver for SATA as the fiend suggested first (SATA driver ver:3.00b)

So you did load the SATA driver first, you just wanted to do BIOS too?
If you loaded the driver, put the drive in and check.
If not, load driver first and put the drive in. If nogo, let us know the error prompts.

okay so today i tried a combination of things. the first thing i did was to load the card drive with the xp cd in the cd rom, and nothing happened told me to push f3 to restart my computer, than i tried to put in the floppy with the hard drive still connected with no cd, and i got to that same screen above with all those options and still nothing, than i tried a combination of the floppy/sata h/d / the xp cd and still nothing all the same stuff kept on comming up, it keeps on telling me that it cannot recognize a hard drive in the computer. so i was thinking if i should maybe set up a jumper somewhere either on the 1/2 or 5/6 i believe, cuz it has a little memo on the harddrive that if i have the jumper on it that it enables something and something else, dont have the hard drive with me at the moment, one of them was about some speed. so im running out of options here, and if i dont figure it out by the end of this week ima take the computer to a computer shop and have them take a look at it, sry for along post, thanks for those who are currently helping me out, really appriciate the time and effort

okay so i was reading my motherboards manual, and i found out that i only needed the cd for the mother board to be able to install it, but at the end of it it told me that the mother board will load the bios on the empty floppy disk to be able to make it work, and all i needed to do was restart and install xp, but when i do that with the diskette in it tells me NTLDR is missing, so i restart the computer without a floppy disk and i still get the same problem as before, when i hit ENTER to install the xp cd, it tells me to push f3 because it cant fina a harddrive
