I've used dvdshrink with full disc, and also re-authored, but just with the main title movie. Is there a guide that shows a relatively easy way to remove FBI warnings and trailers from dvds? I want to keep menus etc and do the whole dvdshrink, but I just want to lose those features.

Thanks.

You can either use VobBlanker to edit out the trailers and what you do not want, or in Shrink substitute still images for what you do not want.

VobBlanker here and guide.

For Shrink, select what you want to get rid of and then choose still image under the compression setting.

thx for the tip, I will try that.
however, in your example with dvdshrink, setting the main title to a still image, i realise is just an example. however, when I go to do this to an FBI warning or other trailers, is is just a case of expanding the list on the left and going until I find that, then say still image? What I mean is, sometimes those trailers seem 'integrated' with the main movie.

Also, when they are made into still images, do they play? I was hoping to remove them altogether. Can I just put it to a still image and play for zero seconds.

Yes expand the list you can use the preview to find out what you want to remove and then substitute the still, this will take the file size down to about 1k and you can use any still image you want I have a blank frame that I substitute.

using the still images didn't work very well. they sit there for as long as the FBI warning did, eg., 15 seconds. Now they can be skipped, but is there a way to just have them shown for 1 second? or not at all?

the so called 'simplistic' guide to Vob Blanker looks very complex. I can't say I really understand most of it. Is there an easier guide that explains things clearly, step by step?

The most easiest or basic steps I can give you on how to Blank out FBI Warnings, Trailers/previews, extras, etc. with VobBlanker is to do as follow:

- open up VobBlanker
- import your movies (VIDEO_TS.IFO) file on the INPUT folder
- on OUTPUT folder, create a new folder and a sub VIDEO_TS folder for your new movie file
- click on any VTS and play it, if you don't like it, then simply BLANK it out with the BLANK button on the RIGHT
- or click on the VTS, then any ENTRY # from the below screen, click PREV/CUT, play it, then edit/cut out any scene or use the BLANK button on the RIGHT.

It's all about self learned with VobBlanker -- yes, the guide seems complex, but once you've done it a few times and mastered the techniques, it's easy as sippin' on a Corona. Once you've become an advance user with VobBlanker, you'll learn how to appreciate the author of VobBlanker. You'll be amaze how this little program can do so much, including it can fix/correct any left over corrupted/structural cells on now-a-days protected dvds.

Good luck and happy editing/blanking with VobBlanker.

You can also try to do it with DvdReMake which is more intuitive: http://www.dimadsoft.com/dvdremake/ud_dg_04.php

Thx, it makes more sense now. However, I have to ask a couple other things.

It seems dvdshrink can do this, just not as well, am I right? E.g., dvdshrink allows you to make trailers a still image, like a simple png file, which takes up no space. I can't seem to set the duration on that though, so it may play 20 seconds, but can be skipped.
It seems that VobBlanker is just a way of 'zapping' stuff that you don't want, which is similar to dvdshrink when you uncheck stuff, like audio tracks, etc.
So, would you say that this is my most logical way to backp?
1. rip with dvdFabdecrypter to remove protection
2. remove trailers, fbi with VobBlanker
3. open output files with dvdshrink, and compress to fit DVD+R
?

thx
