Hi I am having a problem using my limewire that I bought. I am in college now and use there internet connection and now I am not able to use it at all. When I start it up it just says starting connection and stays that way doesn't change at all. I know it must be the connection but I wanted to know is there away around it.

Most schools block p2p software by filtering sharing ports; some have more advanced IPS software. I don't know much about LW but you could try changing ports within the program. Otherwise, you can't do anything. Either way, your schools' IT department almost certainly knows what you are doing.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

You bought limewire :s i thought it was free.
They've just released a new version try that one if you havn't already got it. Has your college got a filter set up, if so i'm not sure but do a search for something like bypass filter p2p.

Does LW support a proxy such as SOCKS proxies? If so, you might be able to work that way, if you can locate one. Of course, everything you do could be monitored and logged by the operator of the proxy. Alternatively, you could try the aforementioned option of changing ports. However, if the school uses an Intrusion Prevention System-type system, which searches for telltale data patterns, then it's unlikely anything will work, especially if your schools' IT Department was smart enough to filter proxies as well.
