This Pc is doing my head in..............
It started about couple of days ago, the 1st
symtoms were that the monitor was telling me that
there was no signal, so I checked the leads and it
came back on, then a few days later it went into the
screen to start in safe mode or last good
confuguration, none of these options worked as it just
went back to the same screen. I then remembered that
there were 2 drives in there, so I ghosted it across
thinking that would sort it, it appeared to ghost
across ok. rebooted and exactly the same screen, I
then diconnected the bigger drive and booted it up on
the smaller drive, which worked ok. I made the
assumptiom that the larger drive was knackered! Oh and
it wouldn`t let me get passed the safe mode screen if
both drives were plugged in.
I then bought a new drive and replaced it and ghosted
the small drive across and got exactly the same
response as with the old drive! I then tried swopping
the ide leads over to eliminate the leads and still no
joy. I though it may be the M/B but if that was the
case why does it fire up on the smaller drive and it
looks like I bought a drive when that probably isn`t
the problem.

Any ideas?

you may need to just reinstall completly and do a data migration of the data on your drives. a fresh install can fix anyproblem thats software related

By Ghosting a `perfect` set-up from the smaller drive to the new drive is surely as good as a re-install?

No offense, but I dont think your first install is perfect. Almost sounds like there is something funny going on in the boot.ini. Copy and paste the contents of this file in your next post. It can be found on the root of the boot drive.
