I am trying to back up a dvd series with 8 episodes. My program says I need a dual layer DVD which does not work with my burner. Is there a way to divide the dvd so I can copy it onto 2 disks or another way to burn it so it will copy to a regular one layer disk?

You could compress it with Shrink or Nero to fit.

I tried compressing it with 1click dvd pro and it says I need a dual layer dvd. Does Shrink compress it more?

No harm to try as Shrink is free. If that doesn't work, there are programs (e.g. DVD Fab Gold) that can split a dvd into two nicely.
