I found afterdawn and I gotta admit the wealth of information here is great. One of the first things I noticed is how much memorex dvd+-r's obviously suck. I just buy them cuz they are cheap, and I usually don't have TOO much of a problem with them.
Except for where making backup's of my PS2 games are concerned. I don't have a problem with older PS2 games, but the newer ones are giving me all kinds of heck, and I have a matrix infinity mod. Almost thought it was the mod chip until I saw on here that it's listed as 1 of the best 2. Matrix is also updated to the latest firmware, btw
I did find some Taiyo Yuden media that I am fixing to order, so here is a question. I have a couple backups that I don't have the originals for anymore (kids broke em). Can I just rip the ISO from the backup and reburn to the Taiyo? I mean, the data itself shouldn't be damaged, right? Just that the memorex are crappy disks where performance is concerned.
I will probably still use memorex for my movies/anime cuz I hate having to order stuff, but I found a good deal on some Taiyo 50-packs, so that will last me quite a while. I'll use the Taiyo's for my PS2 backups, and memorex for basic data.
So will I have any problems with re-ripping the ISO from a memorex backup? That's the only question I couldn't seem to find here. Also, I use Alcohol for ripping and burning. I see you guys recommending a couple other programs too...but I don't see any major differences between them. Do I NEED to use anything besides alcohol? Would that help produce a better burn? All answers appreciated! Great to be here!
