Hi,

I'm pretty new to the PS2 modding scene but i'm doing this primerily for Winning Eleven 10, I've used divineo.cn many times for my DS Modding kits but i have no idea where to start with PS2 as they're seems to be so many versions of Swap Magic.

I have a bog standard chunky black PAL PS2, and i plan to play a DVDR of Winning Eleven 10 which i have downloaded and will burn.

Which one should i be getting?

Here's the selection:

http://www.divineo.cn/cgi-bin/div-cn/cat_playstation2.html , then click boot disks.

Any help will be greatly appreaciated.

Cheers.

you want either the swap magic 3.6+ PAL or coder PAL (coder has a built in cheat device) with either flip top or slide tool (the decision is up to you as which way you want to go). Just make sure you get the PAL version and stay away from magic keys those are for slim ps2s.

Jst another quick question, could you explain to me what the difference is between the two?

The diagram of the Flip Top on Divineo give the impression you have to mod the case of the PS2.

Dont get v3.8 coder, its renowned for having problems. Get v3.6
Difference between slide card & fliptop is;
Slide card is a tool that you stick into the drive tray of your PS2 & hook the eject mechanism so that the tray opens without the PS2 knowing you've ejected.
A fliptop is a replacement top case, with a fliplid above the drive tray, so that you can open it to swap out discs. You can also still use the normal eject button.

Personally I'd go for the fliptop, as it will do no harm to your PS2, whereas, with the slide tool you run the risk of breaking your drive tray, or drive motors, even the laser housing.

Thanks for your help guys, i've gone with the slide tool to start with, if i start having problems i'll get the flip top, for my first crack at this with a PS2, i didn't really want to be unscrewing anything.

So you thought you'd be better off sticking things in the drive tray instead?...........makes perfect sense!!??

Thing is, It's simpler to drag the tray out than unscrewing the top of my PS2.

Like i said if things starting playing up with the tray i'll buy a flip lid.
