My burnt games are taking longer and longer to load and sometimes they have read errors and so forth. Plus, this has become more common as time goes on.

Is this a known problem?

Are they significant amounts of time? like have you tried timing it? or is it one of those things where it takes several minutes to load rather than several seconds? I can't really say that I've noticed much. Maybe a few seconds slower. Could just be my imagination though.

No, there's definitely an issue.

For instance, during a game of Need for Speed: Most Wanted, it'll have to load parts of the track as I'm racing which causes huge breaking of pace. Its like my PS2 can't keep up with the game's loading pace.

Start by cleaning your laser lens with a cotton bud & some rubbing alcohol, as this sounds very much like a laser related issue.

Cotton buds = Q Tips? The stuff you clean your ears out with?

So is there a correct way to clean the lens? Or do you just dip the cotton in some rubbing alcohol and swab away?

Is there a chance you could scratch the lens? Cause I think my PS2's lens needs a cleanin'... but i'm kinda afraid to do this.

Yes a q tip, they work real good to clean ps2 lasers.

O_o

Uh...wouldn't I have to have already opened my PS2 to modify it to play burnt games in the first place?

Also what media are you using? and what speed did you burn at.. if it was inferior media that could maybe contribute to the problems you're having too.

I'm starting to get the (red) disk error page more often too. Are you still getting the errors after cleaning the laser?
