Hi ALL,

I have successfully got Azureus installed on my xebian (debian) and its running fine. Its currently running Swing WEB UI on it so i can control my torrents from my PC. The only reason why I am using Azureus on my xbox is because it can support encryption and remote control both at the same time. now the problem..

Everytime I try to download a torrent (via WEB UI) with a very long file name containing dashes and slahes like below:

KNOPPIX_V5.0.1DVD-2006-06-01-EN

it returns me an error:

Upload Failed: DownloadManager::addDownload: failed to write torrent to '/mnt/F/KNOPPIX_V5.0.1DVD-2006-06-01-EN.torrent' Torrent::writeToFile: fails Insufficient permissions to write '/mnt/F/KNOPPIX_V5.0.1DVD-2006-06-01-EN.torrent.saving'

I have also tried to execute the torrent file directly from Xebian and it shows the same error in the torrent bar of Azureus.

writeToFile: fails Insufficient permissions to write '/mnt/F/KNOPPIX_V5.0.1DVD-2006-06-01-EN.torrent.saving'

Though when I download torrent file with a short file name like:

Somethinghere.3.9.4.0

Its absolutely fine, and it works like a charm. My current suspicians are Xebian doesnt like long file names containing "-" characters. But i never knew Linux had file name restrictions like that. How do linux users overcome this problem?

Please help me!

You're trying to run a torrent client on an xbox, and you wonder why it's not working ?
You're kidding, right?

Why not? It works perfectly with some torrents. It just doesn't like torrent files with long names.

After doing lots of reading *and testing* on this subject, first i have to apologise for my last reply, as i honestly believed it to be impossible to run a torrent client on an xbox... boy did i prove myself wrong...

Anyway, after getting it to work, i saw that indeed, certain longer filenames *and especially ones with numerous dashes in their name* would refuse to work.
However, once i renamed the torrent files, the problem was usually solved.
So renaming them would be one quick solution.
As for your last question, it's not really a linux problem, as regular linux has never come up with this kind of error with me, but it rather seems to be a problem with the xbox's filesystem...

Thanks a lot for your help and confirmation Fiend. Yes a quick way to fix it would be to rename the .torrent file.

But it still doesnt work if the multiple files being downloaded (within a single .torrent file) have long * filenames.

Do you have any idea's on how i might be able to rename all the files within the torrent file? Torrent editor or something along those lines?

i was looking at this link:
http://www.xbox-linux.org/wiki/Differences_between_Xbox_FATX_and_...

don't quite understand it.. maybe it might unlock the secrets to my problem.

The xbox file system does not support file names in excess of 40 characters or more. The only way it would is if the file were being read from a disc and not the HDD.
