I have been able to rip video in IFO mode using RipIt4ME quite easily to Encode to XviD using autogk.

Silent Hill however seems to have defied the rules in auto generation of a PSL using RipIt4Me in IFO mode. While it works 80% of the time in file mode cause I have tested and recieved the errors that many other users are using upon numerous tests such as buffer overflow issues and so on... Even erroring out during the ripping process in file mode. I can confirm that it will work most of the time.

It either has to be a new protection scheme or the same protection scheme used to defy the detection scheme in RipIt4Me or another possible updated sony rootkit that was developed and installed without you're consent that is causing issues with copying.

Anyways the main issue I see is the ability to easily convert to XviD using my most favored conversion tool autogk. With its simplified approach and user friendly GUI coupled with damn near exact filesize output to quality ratio there is nothing that holds a candle to this application for its implied usage.

There are many other conversion tools out there that will produce less then accurate filesizes but they will work but as everyone else out there I hate to settle for something less.

I would like to make mention of a great piece of freeware based off the gnu software liscense Mencoder and that application is called "SUPER" justifiably named it will encode anything you throw at it damn near.

Ok so on the beaten path...

The only thing I can think to attempt to get this to work the way I want it though not yet tested is to first burn it to DVD using the RipIt4Me approach and then rip it off there in IFO Format. If that works maybe some of the software coders out there should automate this process. Some people seem not to realize the importance of ripping a DVD using the IFO file mode and its implications. Most dont care most will take the road that is easy. And most will not encode there video cause they simply think that going through it is a waste of time.

But I and many others disagree.

The questions left:

What is this new Protection?

What is RV protection as people mention used in Silent Hill?

Is it even a new Protection or is it old protection designed to bypass the detection methods now used?

How does one achive an IFO Rip of Silent Hill and other movies equal in protection?
