hi, im new to the forums & need some help with a bittorrent connection problem. if anyone has any ideas they would be much appreciated.
I'm currently away from home & asscessing the internet through a local area connection & web server which i think is running apache (go 192.168.0.1 in explorer & get a powered my apache logo & thats about it). http downloads are all good get about 150KB great. but i can't get bittorrent to connect at all. i have both abc & Azureus, with encryption enabled & have tried many random port options to try & get it to connect to no avail.
Id love to hear any ideas to get torrent going even at a modest download speed would be great.
Do you have any router connected in your computer? I would recommend switching to UTorrent. There's a great thread on this client and it works perfect! Just give it a try. I personally don't like Azereus cuz its a computer hog. Plus, it uses java to run.
Anyway, here's the link to the great guide in UTorrent
i will give utorrent ago, thanks for the reply, i dont know how the connection is set up, i tried a few general ip address used for routers to see if i could find one but no luck.
are there any other ways of using bittorrent when connect through a larg network with a web server?
Oh, so you mean you have a router setted up in your computer then. I see. I think you should port forward your router so that the incoming connection is good. But first, what's your router? Linksys..?
Just type "port forward" in google and you will definately see on how to forward your router for better incoming connection in UTorrent..
utorrent didnt work either, think i managed to find the routers ip address (10.0.0.203) tried that ad in exploer and got same page as when 192.168.0.1 was entered (Old Browser Intercept
If you can see this page, then your browser is ancient! It is not compatible with modern web servers) im running exploer 7.
any ideas on how to login & set up port forwarding?
hmmm. Well, just use UTorrent for a while since it's not a computer hog like Azereus. To forward your router you better know what type of router you have. I think you can find it within the router itself.
Here's the link on how to port forward your router.
hmm i have no idea what kind out router it is, when i enter the ip of what i think is the router i just get an info page saying web browser is old (which its not) usually should get a login screen for the router. ive used a dlink one before & managed to get up login screen using its ip & configure it fine.
im unsure of how to get to a screen in which to login/configure router.
In that case, there's no helping but to call the company of the router you own. Or the place where you perchased your computer. I guess those people would be a great help. :D
