One of my friends that also has cox cable recently had his internet cut off for downloading a movie. When he contacted the company they told him he was downloading copyrighted material and inorder for them to reconnect his internet he must stop.
I dont want the same thing to happen to me. So I was wondering if need to download peer guardian 2? I have Norton Internet Security will that firewall protect me? Also people have recommended downloading proxy. What exactly does that mean??
He got caught, thats why. I have Cox Cable, have for years, hasnt happened to me.
1.PG blocks known baddies, and is the best option to protect yourself when using P2P. GET IT NOW!
2.PG should never replace your firewall, but your firewall can do what PG is designed to do. I dont use your particular firewall, so I wouldnt know how to do it, but there should be an option to block IP ranges. This is what Peer Guardian does.
3.A proxy basically masks your IP. It reroutes you through a server somewhere, whichs masks your external IP. Dont ever think of this as an answer to your problems, as you can still be found out. It also will DRASTICALLY reduce your dl speeds.
Best idea would be to use private trackers, use PG, and NEVER NEVER dl something like a movie before its release or shortly after, as you are just testing fate.
