Alright, so I'm not the smartest guy, but I love my PSP. Recently I've been broke off my ass and unable to buy games. I'm running 2.0, and would love to be able to run .iso files. I've done alot of investigating, and the results are mixed..is there any way I can safely run .iso riles on a 2.0? If so, how can I do this? Additionally, I came upon this: "For any of you homebrew devs out there working on cracking the 2.50 firmware SonyXTeam has released a warning you may want to look at: SonyxTeam News We want to warn any team creating version changer programs that the 2.50 index.dat encryption pattern has changed, therefor you have 100% chances of bricking your psps if you try to use it in your flash. That?s also why we are not using it on our version changer. The reasons why sony would do such a thing are - To prevent people from creating version changers (they failed to do so, since we know how to create our own index.dat) - To prevent people on 2.50 from downgrading using an earlier index.dat version - Because they think we are dumbasses that would brick some of our psps in the process (that?s too bad since we didn?t brick any of our psps as we tested the 2.50 index.dat using BFM firmware loader). Also Sony wouldn?t imagine us sniffing in their IPL and figuring out that the Version information is now located into the 2.50 IPL whitch means that the index.dat is now useless and has just the purpous to fool us (yeah $ony just failed mouhahaha, we are way smarter than they imagine, next time I do hope for their sake that they do better?.)" Aperently Sony is trying to shut dowr the Homebrew program... And as far as our top codebreakers go... they're winning... from what info i've gathered from websites and magizenes, I've made an inference on the impending doom that nears called: --------------------------------------------- THE SONY PLAN: 1. To stop production of Homebrew games, release a new Update. 2. To enforce downloading this update, all UMD's produced from 9/1/05 onward will require the update to function. 3. Add more programs using updates to lure homebrew gamers. 4. Re-incrypt data files to make them different from Homebrew files. 5. Still using updates, make all files that are not pictures, music or movies incompatible with the PSP if they are not on a UMD. --------------------------------------------- I have to say that the age of Homebrew is over... because I don't think anyone wants to miss "StarWars Battlefront 2" of "GTA Liberty Stories." Last thing I'd want is to brick my PSP, I use the hell out of it. Thanks.

You can downgrade your 2.0 to 1.5 then play iso. Many guides around. Please use the search button. As for sony, well they re not doing very well at trying to stop homebrew. People aren't stupid enough to give up there 1.5's. People on 1.5's will have a easier time as long as they don't upgrade. As for the ones who want to downgarde, sonys just trying to shut the doors in there face. An never ending battle.

Arsenal! =D

in order to run iso files you have to be on firmware version 1.5 if you download this file here http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/3 in includes instructions on how to use it and safely downgrade your psp. keep running it until u see some white numbers come up on the screen. reboot ur psp then check to see if it says its version is 1.00. It doesnt actually downgrade it to 1.00 it just changes the version number allowing you to run the 1.5 eboot. any mor questions just ask. @bombay sorry posted same time as you.

- Copy h.bin in root of your memory stick
- Copy index.dat in root of your memory stick

Is that: MP_ROOT? Or inside one of the two files in there?

MP_ROOT is an actual folder. root is the bottom most folder in your psp. if you have the files in the right place you will see index.dat, h.bin, the PSP folder, and the MP_ROOT folder if you have one.

Install devhook using devhook 0.46 ultimate installer from psp-hacks. After you install there should be a folder in ur ms0 called "ISO". Just drag any iso/cso into there, go into ur xmd and load devhook..select the iso you wanna play and your ready to go.

2 final questions:

second, how do I switch between games without closing and reopening Devhook?

When you are emulating 2.71 under devhook you can play your ISO's.

Press home and L or R to change ISO's in Devhook

if the umd is for FW 1.5 then its run in the xmb.

if its higher, use dev hook and use UMD settings. and make the firmware emulate 2.7 then youll play em all. Then to switch back to 1.5 hold power switch up for 10 seconds.

XMB is the interface u scroll through on the psp. the thing that says game photo and and all that. h.bin and index.dat go in the root of the memstick. the .tif file goes in the PHOTO folder. the instructions also say it too.
