I have an emachines computer, and i have a "restore factory settings" disc that came with it. My comptuers screwed, im not sure if the harddrives failed or what, but anyway.

I turn it on, and it goes to that black screen saying "windows hasnt shut down properly. DO you want to:

Start windows in safe mode

'' '' with command prompt

'' '' normally "

Any one of these options i select, it goes to the windows xp screen, and then just goes off and starts again, and so on.

Or, it doesnt even do this, it jsut goes to the Emachines screen and stays there.

Now, with this disk, the comp boots from it and restores the computer to how it was wheni bought it (after some options).

I done a full restore a month ago, cause i ahd the same problem.

IT all went great, but now im back again. However, it wont boot form it! It just goes to the emachine screen and i can start it again as many times as i want, but it sstill wont boot from it!

What shall i do :'(

Thanks ireland!![afterdawn legend]

First i'd do some virus scans.

Second i'm suprised the disc worked in the first place if its a virus but even more so that it won't work a second time. Maybe its already on factory settings and so can't boot because theres nothing to boot about?

Would you consider a format? If its really screwed it might be the best thing for it.

At all? Sorry i thought you were posting from the same computer so you could start up.

Try finding a virus scan that works on a boot disc?

Thanks.

No, the harddrives knackered i think.

I used to download music and stuff, the wrong way, and knackered the computer up. I also tried some dodgy programs on it and they messed up the registry and things. When i recently done the reinstall, it came up with a blue backgrounded screen with white writing saying that there has been s seriouis/critical error and to make sure all hardware was working and installed properley. Well, there was none connected really lol.

Also, it keeps making wierd clicking noises whenever it starts up, that it never used to do, and i can reinstall as many times as i like and it still wont start.

MEH, new harddrive today, guy in a shop told me that was the case too.

Cheers anyway.
