Hi,

I used this very easy-to-understand guide (first one I am seeing that is really easy to follow, thanks!) to try Vision Express to convert an AVI file to DVD (size of file is 18GB).

I am having a pretty fast computer (Intel 3.2GHz+Hyperthreading, 1GB RAM), and the video size is 1:30 hours. I am using "Standard Play" instead of "High quality" for the quality setting. And finally I am writing to a fast SATA-2 disk. But when the Vision starts the process, it says that it is "Transcoding tape" and that part will take "2hrs 20 mins", while the "Total Progress" Remaining is "258 hours 37 mins", which amounts to almost 11 days!

Does anyone have any idea why it should take this long ? I waited for about 30 mins thinking that the number will reduce to 2-3 hours, but even after 30 mins, it shows "258 hours, 7 mins".

Any help is really appreciated!

Thanks,

- KK

Hi Nayasin,

I checked DMA and it is on (not sure how to check for SATA disk,
tried according to that link you sent and the DMA for IDE disks are
"if available").

Hi Dougal79,

Thanks for the tip. Where do I get this afterdawn's DVI2DVD ? Also do
you think it is pretty good (no issues, good reproduction of DVD from
AVI) ?

Looks like I posted in two forums, sorry for the confusion.

thanks,

- KK
