Hi, apparently this prog can join vobs into one large VOB file so that I can edit scenes. All VOB files are in the same folder and I click on the first VOB VTS_xx_1.VOB, (the others are xx_2, xx_3 etc), a window pops up so I choose the 3rd option to join and it goes through what appears to be the joining process. When this has completed I only see that 5 of the nine vobs have been joined and they are in random mixed order.
Does someone know how to do what I need to have them joined and in the right sequence please using DVD Lab.
I'll leave it to somebody else to solve this particular problem, but I just wanted to say that if you simply want to do some editing, you may be creating extra work for yourself, and possibly sacrificing quality. I just posted a similar answer in another thread regarding the editing of commercials using Womble MPEG Video Wizard. See if this is of some help while you wait for your answer to your question.

-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.
Hi Dunker, I've tried Womble as you suggested but I found that there was a very slight glitch where the join occurred as can be seen when played so I thought I'd try DVDLab since it is a more "professional package" as I see it. There shouldn't be any loss in quality as there is no transcoding as is needed (referring to the other topic using TMPG because it works with mpegs)
You can try demuxing the files with something like VobEdit or PGCDemux or rip the DVD folder with Smart Ripper. All the programs have options where the elementary streams are joined together. Also, you can make an ISO, mount it and rip it with DVD Decrypter in IFO mode. You can look through my ARccOS guide to see how to rip in elementary streams that are output as large files rather than split files.
After you Demux the files, import the elementary streams into DVDLab and then make your DVD. VOB Files are joined on the disc even if they are split. Thay may make no sense, but if you look at the sector addresses of the files, you will see that there is no gap in between them. This means that any program that can handle VOB files that is NOT an editor can make them into 1 file. You do not have to worry if an application is freeware or commercial. Actually, some freeware is much better than some commercial software. Also, there are lots of commercial software that use freeware as part of their software.
