Currently downloading a torrent (at decent speed) and I'm connected to 4 seeds but 0 peers. I'm using Azureus and see under the Peers tab that peers show connecting and then handshake, but then disappear.

I believe I have correctly configured the ports in both my router and windows firewall and Azereus is not showing a NAT error.

The Tracker Status is showing a connection error (Connectexception:Connection refused: connect) and when I click on the Tracker URL I get an unable to connect screen.

Should I be connecting to peers regardless of the tracker status?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you trying to seed the torrent?

I wasn't when I wrote my post, but the torrent has since fully downloaded and I would seed it but it fails to connect.

Tried a different torrent on a different tracker and that one never connected to anyone (seeder or peer).

Starting to wonder if my ISP (Comcast) has recently started blocking? I searched for info on that but only found a couple of posts. I would think if they just started doing this, there'd be dozens of posts of such all over the net.

It probably did'nt connect because there wasn't an online leecher/seeder at the time.

If you think your ISP may have an anti p2p policy, phone them up and ask them what how they feel about peer to peer file sharing, if they are throttling your d/l speeds there isn't much you can do but scrap them and go to another ISP.

Rav, that's bullsh*t.
There's plenty he can do, no need to phone his ISP and makes things worse.

@Rawson : First off, if you're not using Peerguardian 2 yet, make sure you download it and start using it when downloading.
As for your current problem, try enabling Azureus' encryption *Options>Connection>Transport Encryption* and see if that helps.
Also, What port are you using ? It could be a simple port conflict.

And IF your ISP is blocking P2P traffic, make sure you enble encryption, and start using port 1720 in conjunction with enabling encryption, that should make it almost impossible for them to see what it is you're sending and receiving.

Thanks for the suggestions Fiend, but I tried them without success. I had been using port 65533 without issue for quite some time and then tried 6969 and of course now 1720.

The timing of my problems seemed to coincide with several Azureus updates, but I'm thinking that was coincidental, as I had the same issues when I downloaded and attempted to use uTorrent. I've tried several more torrents and not one connected to the tracker. If I do get download, my smiley is always blue and there's no upload. As I said above peers pop up, attempt to connect and then drop off. Several torrents I tried the smiley remained red and did nothing in either direction. I would also add that the torrents I tried have all had excellent health with tons of seeders and peers.

Really beginning to get frustrated and of course disappointed...

Are you sure you enabled encryption the right way ? did you check all options under it ?

Yes all options are checked under encryption.

I have no explanation why, but everything seems back to normal now. I did have one last question though: Does PeerGuardian2 offer greater protection than the SafePeer plugin? The main reason why I ask is that running PG2 seems to either slow or prevent page loads to quite a number of sites in Firefox.
