Games are getting very cheap now. Whats the true point of backing up games to play them on your p2. First you would need a modchip or a boot disc to play backed up games, you would only use these to save your original from scratches, damages etc.. but why go through the hassle of burning them on to dvd and waste your time? hobby maybe?

I bought a ps2 the other day and am purchasing all my games but Im still deciding whether or not to burn any games. I will of course be using swap majic with slide card so I dont need to break the seal.

As for me to save money I had to buy madden 06 3 times before deciding to back them up and since then just bought and backed up keep them where the kids can't get them. As for breaking the seal that might depends, swap magic keys don't think you need to but I could be wrong. It also depends also on what model you get, but I would suggest fliptop case and you will have to break your seal.

The point is that I've shelled out good money to buy originals and i would like to have back ups of those just in case the originals get stuffed - I'm sure $ony won't refund me any money for discs that are no longer working.

I have used swap majic with slide card for 2 years on my ps2 without any problems, as long as you do it right I assume you dont break anything

So what is the point of this thread? Games are not VERY cheap, maybe a little cheaper. Say you only spend $20 on a game, I still see a valid point of spending 25-50 cents to backup it up.

It takes quite awhile to backup a game. More if backing up alot of games. However, I do not have the time for this due to college and work. When I was young I had all the time in the world to do this and let me tell you... I had so many games that I would play like 2 mins of each game, kinda got boring ya know. Anyways, I dont have enough time to do this anymore if I did I would. Until then, I will just buy games and play the originals. Im still considering swap magic and a hd with exploit but dont have enough time to research what exactly needs to be done.

If it takes you a long time to backup a game then you're doing something wrong or have a very slow PC and burner.. it takes me around 15-20 mins each game to decrypt it to the hard drive and then burn it. If I have to rebuild then it adds roughly around 5-20 mins on average to rebuild it is all.. depending on the complexity of the rebuild and whihc programs are used.

yea, sadly socom 3 can be backed up but i play online, and well my game broke i had to buy another... so 100 dollars for a copy of a game that ialready owned.. thats the only game im careful about.. also the slide card is a bad choice unless you have ps2 v 9 - 11? i think it was.. because i had a V9 and it didnt have that bar in the tray so the slide card was easy to use... well using it with my V7 i could tell i was hurting my ps2. so i decided to buy the fliptop.. it gets some getting used to.. but doesn't damage your ps2! i love it.

It takes some computer time to do, yes. But the time a person has to spend (clicking DVD Decrypter, switching discs, etc) is about 1 minute per game.

Yeah I generally just pop the disc in.. set the destination and click decrypt.. about 20 seconds in all.. then go make a cup of coffee or something.. then when I come back it's done.. generally 5-8 mins approx.. then if it doesn't need rebuilding, just open up Nero in burn image mode, select the image, set the burn speed, pop in a disk and click.. again.. maybe 8-12 mins to do whatever.. come back and I have a working backup PS2 game .. simple :)

Well I havent backed up any games yet or tried. I need to get a swap magic or something before I start because I dont have a modchip or anything so maybe Ill be getting used to it.

I also had one of the early ps2s and used slide card for almost 2 years and had no problems are damages to the tray.

NVM I have the v10 the last version in the us before swappin to slim.. heard this is one of the best models. also its wayyyyyyyyyy quiter than the last ps2 I had which is a plus.

Your post doesn't make sense Jk. You say you need to get swap magic, then you say you used swap magic for 2 years.
