Hey all,

I just got my G6Lite+Superkey and tried playing one of my backups in multiplayer but it won't run. Does the second DS need to have a Superkey too? Or is there another way?

Thanks,

I assume the second DS is using download play, if this is the case it won't work unless the reciving DS needs FlashMe installed, this is due to the lack of the RSA signiture in the patched ROM.

Every other form of multiplayer should work though, such as ROM-Real Game, ROM-ROM etc.

Yes, the other DS is using download play. So there is no way to download play with a single ROM and single Passkey? :( Is there a way to hotswap the passkey when using download play?

Basically what I am trying to do is play on both DS with one ROM, one G6Lite and one Superkey. I am aware I might be asking for the impossible, but it doesn't hurt to ask! :)

Thanks for your reply

The superkey won't make a difference, the reciving DS has to have FlashMe installed, there is currently no other method round it.

You could use your G6 and superkey to flash the other DS, but that would be your only option :-(

Now that you say it, I can see why the Superkey won't work with download play. I'll answer myself in case someone reads this and wonders (and to make sure I understand the problem :) )

In a nutshell, when the DS downloads, it does not read the Superkey since it does not need a cartridge to play the game. So the thing blocking the correct running of the download is the internal firmware of the DS. That's why it needs to be flashed. Hope I got it right! :)

This begs other questions: what are the pros and cons of flashing a DS? How would I got about doing so? And would it be possible to revert to the originial firmware eventually?

Thanks again.

Pros:
Removes that annoying Health nd Saftey screen
Apparently improves battery life over using a superkey (though i'm not sure)
Adds a restore system into the protected area of the firmware, basically making your DS unbrickable by trojans etc.
Allows you to keep a game in the DS port for hacking (i.e offline mario kart hacks)
Allows downloading of games/homebrew that lacks the RSA signiture.

Cons:
Small risk of bricking the DS due to user error.
Cannot revert back to original firmware if using a DS Lite.

Here is how you would do so: http://www.dspassme.com/FlashMe.shtml

If you ever need to go back to the original firmware just install FlashMe Stealth, this is exactly the same as FlashMe but keeps the Health and Screen meaning shops etc wouldn't know the difference.

Thanks for all the info, I will look into it, but I don't think I'll take the risk of flashing my DS Lite.
