When looking around at the Gaming press you see storys of Doom and Gloom about the PSP maybe the UMD movies have flopped a bit and Games sales arent as high as they want, but what you have to remember is that the PSP is Sonys first venture into a market that Nintendo have dominated since the first Gameboy release.

To enter a market even with a more powerful machine and going against the recognised handheld brand name worldwide was never going to be easy.

The amazing success of the DS with games that have brought new gamers to our video game world would make any other system struggle, in Japan that has been the case but in the USA and Europe the PSP has easily held its own against the DS.

New colours of the PSP like the Pink version being released will appeal to the female & Gay population and as long as Sony start releasing quality games the PSP will always be a success.

One area where Sony must get to grips with to survive is the hacking of their firmware and the ISO loaders that come off it. With the release of the Tiff Exploit yesterday they really must secure their system and yes they will lockout homebrewers but as great as the homebrew scene is, we are also responsible for companies becoming disillusioned with the PSP, its not nice seeing your game that cost millions to produce warezed all over the internet. If Sony are to take action they need to sort out the firmware, Stop the ISO LOaders and distribution with Cease and Desist Notification and also stop all the warez PSP sites who offer games and movies for downloads.

thats just P!ssing all over our fire lol, i can understand what your saying, but if umd prices were cheaper, perhaps there would be no need for homebrew ;)

Oh pls one of the many reason why ppl buy this is that someone can pirate it!!!
As for quality games I can only place a handful that can b considered. You also hav to know that the newer more colorful psp including the white aren't selling like hotcakes. In fact the old 1.5 are once that are flying off the shelves!!!
One of the many reason why psp is creating another version of the psp. Is bcoz no one is buying the new once. The have to add a so called "Ipod" like experience as if the psp can easily b place in the pocket!!!

THank u!!! I mean the last thing a failing console needs is to pressure its loyal fan base to buy another set of a console that really doesn't do much aside from it being "Thinner!". Its not going to be smaller!!!

I mean I just bought one last month & trust me I am infuriated!!!
What wud the European consumers feel that 4-6 months from now Psp is going to release another psp just after releasing.

I mean as for design & form factor I don't have any complains w/ it! What I want from SOny is that make better games. Don't sell me an overpriced crap w/ no sense of quality. Remember gamegear!!!

The thing that SOny should consider is whether there is any form of demand for the product. Unlike the DS, Nintendo knew about the demands of the consumer. That's why DS lite was more successful than DS it itself.

I truly hope Sony starts firing its over paid Exec. They've screwing it up product after product. I hope they start w/ Haz Kirai!!! That dude is full crap. "Hey guys look!!! Its Riiidge Raaacer!!!" I'm expecting his inevitable future. I hope someday this will happend. Hey its a PINK SLIP. Yoour Fiiired!!!

is the piracy community that large and that much of a threat??

about 20 of my friends have psp's and they r all running fw2.8 blissfully unaware of the fact that u can even download games and run them on your psp or even run homebrew on it...along all of my travels even meeting random psp'ers on the train or watever being bored asking for a quick gameshare...not once have i come across someone who has hacked their psp in anyway and are normally running the highest firmware at the time.

not everybody is a geek like we are (deny it as much as u like but this is a community of geeks rite here) and so i think that generally alot of the people that buy a psp arent even goin to think...well how can i hack and exploit this thing...they r simply gonna think wat they thought when they bought their ps2's.......how many games can i buy for how small a price?
