i have Nero that came with my dvd burner.how do i find what version i have? also how do i find and send a log in case i have a problem?

Open the Nero StartSmart. Look at the Extras button. Select Get System Info. This opens the Nero Info Tool. Select the Software tab. You will find the version info.

Not sure how to find the Log. I actually don't use Nero very often - it came with my Burner (like yours).
