Whenever I try to play a movie or video, my computer freezes. When I open winamp or media player and try to play a movie it freezes up my computer or makes it operate really slow. The title shows up and I can hear the audio just fine but there just isnt any video.

Windows XP pro SP2
Pentium(R)4 2.66 GHz
1.00 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 6200

I have to add that I can watch videos fine on "youtube.com" but not when the videos are on my computer

Sounds like you need some codecs.

What type of file is the movie?

I dont think its any codecs because the files are .wmv and mpeg files. I tried playing videos on "ebaumsworld" and they dont work either. My computer freezes up and I have to open up the task manager to close the unresponding files
