I want to buy a DVD RW room but don't know which one the the best, so need an expertise suggestion.
And if possible please suggest me which DVD bunner is the best ^-^

LG is pretty good....thats my 2 cents

Plextor P716 is the cadillac but benq 1650 or 1655 are the most popular and will perform just as well for about 1/2 - 1/3 the price. Benq 1650/1655 best bang for the buck. Lite-on is another goood and popular choice.

1st place goes to Plextor with its 716 but from what i've heard,they have stop production of this model.But if you're lucky you can still get it though it's getting more and more scarce and expensive on the market.If you can't get it,another good one is the latest model which is the PA-760A which is real Plextor unlike the 750 which is rebadged Benq/Teac drive.
But as said by Mort81,you can get the Benq 1650/1655 for almost half of the price of a Plextor drive.The 1650/1655 are also regarded as being among the best burners on the market.
Third will go to Lite-on drives,i don't know which exact model since i don't own any drive in this brand,but i've heard it's quite a good drive too.
I've been using the LG-4163B without any problem till my friend did something really stupid and damaged it somehow.And now i'm using only two drives to burn,the 1650 and the 4167B.The 760A is still waiting in its box and is waiting to be used.But between the LG and the Benq i definitely prefer the Benq.

@TY4ever, can I know why u prefer your BQ to LG4167B? Is BQ's burn quality better?
I've been using LG4167B for 9 months when the CD cracked to pieces (Anyone know if this is commom with LG??) It will take LG 3 weeks to get it repaired BUT i am very tempted to buy the BenQ...I have had not a single problem with LG before the cd cracked tho it has now freaked me now cos I borrow a lot of my friends' dvd...what if it cracks!!

Me too i'm a big fan of LG since i used the 4163B for more than one year till it went down.I've been using only TY Verbatims(since discovered AD)for all my personal backups,and the remaining crap dvds i got myself before i use them only to make backups for others(who do not care about quality and also the right way to get rid of them).However i've noticed that on my LG-4167B which i have started to use recently at the same time as the Benq,some of my crap dvds can't be burned whereas on my Benq they work just fine.I know it's due to the quality of the media but before on my old 4163B i never got this kind if problem.And another thing is that when i use the 4167B,it's kind of noisy(loud spinning noise) and sometimes the drive even "vibrates" when burning compared to the Benq which is very quiet and smooth when burning.
Another good thing about the Benq is that you have a program called Solidburn in the Benq's Qsuite that adapts to newer media/unknown media so the drive,in someway,learns the optimal writing strategy for the given media you are using.It can be helpful in some cases where some media that is not currently supported in the firmware write strategy tables,over a few burns,the drive will Learn and Adapt(to a certain extent) so that the media can be written with better quality and consistency.
But i'm not saying that the 4167B is not a good drive,it can be just me who's not so lucky with my actual drive and is more comfortable in using the Benq.This is simply to answer your question why i prefer my Benq over my LG-4167B.But definitely,if you're thinking of buying a new drive,i would suggest you to get the Benq DW-1650,as far as it's a matter of quality/price,it's the best you can get.
But one important thing to remember,to have good burns,you not only need good drives but good medias too(TY or Verbatims).

@TY4ever, thks for feedback-appreciate it. I will get Benq this weekend, so at least i would have experienced using the LG n Benq...
(I use verb btw, there r no TYs over here)
I will try my best to get DW1650 or DW1655 though they are considered old models here. They r now selling DW1670 tho I think I someone wrote stay away from DW1670. Anybody knows why??

Benq changed the chipset in the 1670 to matsushitu. The 1620, 1640, 1650, and 1655 all use the benq/phillips chipset. Qsuite will not work with the 1670 and although the 1670 is capable of bitsetting/booktyping it will not work with the benq booktype management utility or the booktype utility incorperated in qsuite.

@Mort81, sorry, I'm a little new so your expl. is too technical for me. When I had an LG-gsa4167B, I didn't touch the CD software that came with it or did anything and all the disc played fine on any player. I hope this will be the same with Benq? The only thing I know is what the Benq sales people told me, 1670 is made by Lite-on (Taiwan) and the earlier versions by Benq/Philips but the technology's d same, no change. So, if I had no choice, can I just get 1670, will I have to set to region fee, update firmware etc etc b/c I never had to do anything with Lg and the disc all played well.Hmm...advice appreciated.

If I was doing it I would go with a lite-on SHM-165H6S over a benq DW1670. But that's just me. Do whatever you like. It's your money. There is a utility for the lite-on called smartburn which is similiar to benq's qsuite and they have a utility called the lite-on booktype utility to automatically booktype all your DVD+R media to dvd-rom. I don't feel the 1670 is in the same catagory as the 1640, 1650, or 1655.

Yeah!Me too from what i've heard,the 1670 is not that great since it doesn't use the same chipset as the 1640,1650/1655.The 1670 is a complete different story from the three previous models.Sometimes to be able to get the best out of a drive,it's worth to be a bit curious and use the cd coming with it,like the QSuite for the Benq,Plextools for Plextor and Lite-on has it's own suite.LG,if i'm right doesn't have this kind of utility suite,the only thing in the cd coming with the drive is a version of Nero.The utility is so easy to use that even a kid can understand and install it,all you need to do is to read the instructions and follow the steps.
But if your choice of Benq drives is only the 1670,then it would be better to take into consideration about the Lite-on drive that Mort81 has advised you,at least you got someone who really has experience about that drive and he's not a newbie in that field,he knows what he's talking about.

I have bought the ASUS 'coz LG is currenly out of stock n for the Benq, I never heard about the DVDRW.
