A quick description of my system and software....
Pentium 4 2.5 Ghz running XP Home Edition

Softwares : DVD Shrink latest version
AnyDVD latest version
Nero burning rom

Burners : Benq 1640
Plextor (can't remember model)

I've been using this software/hardware combo for over a year with no problems at all. And two days ago I put in a disc to backup and Shrink can't read it at all...I tried other discs with same results. I tried on both plextor and benq drives with same outcome. I get a pop-up message from AnyDVD stating that my drives are region 2 and can't read region 1 discs. So I went to rpc1.com to find a patch for the benq to make it region free but still did not work. If I insert a movie that I backed-up (region free) then it would work find.
I'm thinking there must be something in the software or firm ware (benq has latest firm ware) because both drives are not reading region 1 discs. I tried to reinstall Nero and AnyDVD without luck. My only option left to try is to reinstall window or buy a new dvd burner. Both are last resort options unless one of you experts here can figure this out.
I forgot to mention that since this happened I sometimes get an error message about "Incd_mainframe_gui" file can't be found(something like that...I'm typing this from work so I can't recall the exact error message) when I tried to restart the computer. I reinstall Nero after seeing this message but still no luck but the error still popping up.

Thanks in advance

rick28806,
Welcome to the forum. Go into Device Manager and find your DVD burners and see what the region is set to. Sounds like the Burners are set to Region 2. If you can set them to region 1( it should tell you how many times left you can change the region) but if you can not set them then the hack would have been your only salvation.

Have you been doing region 1 and region 2 movies?
