LCD Monitor only displays grey / No OSD

I just picked up a Planar PT1503N monitor from a friend and after plugging it in to the power outlet and hooking the PC up to it, it turned on but only displayed grey. The power and OSD buttons don't seem to function and the power LED won't come on. Is there any way to explain/repair this?

Is there anything commin on the screen or do u just have a blank screen. If its blank I recommend you go give it back to your friend. If you can still see stuff but in grey etc.. go and use google to find the drivers for the monitor and download that and install it and it should fix the matter.

The only relevant item I can find on the Planar website is the generic plug and play drivers for Planar monitors. I have installed them and still have the same result. The power button and the other function buttons still don't respond or do anything and the monitor will always stay on displaying a greyish white screen until I unplug the video or until the computer's power save function is activated. Perhaps this has something to do now with the internal circuit board?

The only other thing that comes to my mind is that your graphic card drivers need updating. So first find out what your graphic card is and then go to the relavant site and download the updated driver for your card.

No matter what happens with the input signal, you should still be able to access the on-screen display. If it powers on, but the OSD doesn't come up when you press the menu button or whatever, the screen may be faulty, I'm afraid!
