Ive been trying to burn dvd's but i havent had enought room to burn it on one dvd-r. ive been reading about dvd-9 and i to my knowledge, i think its a different kind of disk. if it is can some one tell me where i can buy that kind of disk. ive been looking every where. or is dvd-9 burning just a format that your software can choose?
DVD-5 (as DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R and DVD+RW are) can contain 4.36GB of data on one side. It has single layer.
DVD-9 is a dual-layer disc and obviously can contain 2x4.36GB of data on one side.
Due the DVD technology and how DVD players recognize writable DVDs, like DVD-R and DVD+RW, it is impossible to create writable DVD-9 discs.
As you soon will find out, after reading few message board dicussions before making any further questions, making a backup of DVD-Video disc is not really a simple task as the discs normally are DVD-9 discs.
And you posted your question to wrong forum, I moved it to here, where other DVD-R discussion is held.
Nope. If you wish to backup a DVD movie, you either need to split it into two DVD-Rs or re-encode the movie to make it fit into one CD and lower the quality slightly.
Where can i find how to lower the quality? Is it that noticeable? I have the video capture device that captures the stream from my VCR but when it converts it over to MPEG-2 i think its like 8gb for just a 2 hour movie is there any other way to convert VHS to DVD so i can put it on one disk or no? i have like 1000 VHS i want to convert over.
1) Read through these forums and also visit doom9.net's guide section. The re-encoding is done with ReMPEG2 or TMPGEnc and it takes forever, but the quality doesn't suffer that much.
2) You need to have video capture card -- for more instructions, please visit our article section and read through these forums.
