personally, the new big fix is what i would be going for at this point, providing you are on 2.71 non ta-082.
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/753
this includes all nessesary files. ie the 1.5fw
i quote from the site :
1. Copy the files inside MS_ROOT to the root of your memory stick.
2. Wait someone with 1.50 to pass you a folder called DOWNDATER and copy it to the root of your memstick.
3. It is recomended that you have the psp at more than 50% batteery and connected to AC
4. Go to the xmb photo viewer.
At this point will one of the following things:
* You'll see a full red screen. This indicates that the downdater is doing its job. Wait for it to finish. When it finish it will crash on purpose. Restart your psp manually and you'll probably have a 1.50 if nothing went wrong.
* You don't see the red screen. This indicates that the downdater code has not started to execute. (even if the memstick blinks(or no), it doesn't matter! if the screen is not red, you can safely restart the psp at this point).
This happen because of inestability in the tiff.
Don't worry, just restart the psp and keep trying until you reach the red screen of downdate. The downdater code is NEVER executed partially. It's either executed totally or nothing.
It depends of "luck" but usually the downdater will start to execute in a average of 1/10 times. Things that may increase the probabilities:
- A fresh formatted memory stick.
- A 32 MB memory stick (and fresh formatted)
----
as a added note, youll find all this same information on afterdawn already, dont be scared to click on the links in peoples sig's, theres a lot of information there.
as always there is risks. although the downgrader has proven sound for me, this is not the case for other users, sometimes.
just make sure you read the instructions carefully, and follow them carefully, there is no room for error in this procedure.

1gb is fine, providing yopu have followed this by the book, you should be fine, now.
when i used this, it didnt work first or second time, the screen just stayed blank, its when your screen goes red when its appenin'!
during all this, dont press a thing, but you have to keep trying :P thats what i did :)

http://rapidshare.de/files/25870378/Ulti...osZero.exe.html
the guide for it is below
http://homebrewhowto.com/content/view/687/84/
There you go, for some reason, that was pretty difficult to find
:P once thats installed, youll run it from your 1.50 games memory stick menu, and from that, u can choose firmware you want to boot into, so u can still play your UMD GAMES providing they need 2.71 or below.
you can also play ISO's game backups on boot.
to my knowledge there isnt currently any games that require 2.80's out, but i hear thats possible to devhook anyway.
:) hope ive guided you well, im pretty new to the homebrew scene myself.
