Hi there...
downloaded from camcorder lot of footage which currently occupies several Gigabytes on my hard drive.
My question is how do I merge these huge AVI files of well over 2GB each in order to encode them to MPG-2? I usually employ VirtualDub but it doesn't create files which exceed that capacity.
Thnx

thnx for your reply. One doubt arose: will this process create a bigger AVI file as result?
ie: Video1.avi 2GB + Video2.avi 2GB = Video1&2.avi 4GB
Or will it encode directly? Because what I want to have is a bigger AVI file which I will encode later with Mainconcept encoder
Perhaps I wasn't clear enough about it. I apologize

If you are using Mainconcept you should be able to make one merged file directly with it as you encode. The size will depend on the bitrate you use. Set all the various parameters the same, stack them in the 'Encoding BatchList' and then use the 'Encode list to one file' option.

Yes, either use Mainconcept or use NVE. NeroVision will output an mpeg2 DVD.

Thanks! I was not aware of that option in Mainconcept. I'll use that instead.
Just for curiousity, why do they impose that 2GB limit?

The 2GB limit was imposed because of the old Windows hard disk formatting system (forgot the name right now). No files could be larger than 2GB under that system.
If you've formatted according to NTFS, there is no limit for file sizes.
This can usually be set in the preferences of the capturing software you're using.

when I capture from the camcorder the downloaded AVI is far over 2GB, but when I trim it with VirtualDub then it saves the "new" processed file in chunks of 2GB each
