Hi, I have a P4, I was haveing trouble with it is at frist when I use it for abit it use to aleays reboot. So I bought Spysweeper software cause I thought it might be a spyware issue. It worked ok for a little while then it rebooted and when it stared to load up it didn't see any floppy dirve, IDE, or cdrom before it restarted again (by itself) it checked for IRQs (200 or so beore rebooting). I have a couple of ideas on what it might be one the memory, two the hard drive or three the motherboard or cpu. If any one have any idea it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

If you get the BSOD then you need to adjust the re-boot timer to stop the machine auto re0booting and set it to manual, you can then take your time to read and write down any error messages.

Is this a new build, or have you changed/added/tinkered with anything no matter how trivial it may seem.

Have you checked the CPU cooler fan is working and that the fans are not clogged with dust. Check what the hardware reports are showing in the BIOS.

Download memtest86 to test the memory in dos mode this will show if that is at fault.

What's up newfielad?
Yeah like BigDK says, when your CPU fan has finally had too much and the dust-clogged cooler will move no more air, the CPU temp gets high and this is what happens.
I dunno about SpySweeper, I just download Spybot S&D and Lavasoft AdAware, and use Hijack This! for tough cases (all free).
If you are using NTFS harddisks you should run Diskcheck maybe once a month. From My Computer highlight the drive > right-click Properties > Tools > Error Checking > Check Now > Automatically fix file system errors. Expect to reboot - but please, empty the All Programs > Startup folder first.
Run Disk Defragmenter only after you have just ran the Diskcheck.
LoL - so you figure it's mobo, CPU, memory or HD eh? You've got it pretty well covered :^)
But you're forgetting the Big Three - coolers, powersupply and OS. These three are the source of many problems...
Or the Big Four if you include PEBKAC, LoL
