I am sorry if this has been asked before, but a search did not help me find the answer.

I have a US ps2 and would like to know what I could do to play import games (original or backups). I know a modchip will do it, but I would also like to know if something else like swap magic can do it.

I would rather not solder anything into my system, but, I can do it if it is the only way.

yes a swap magic will play imports origial or backups

you may need to patch PAL games to NTSC for them to work on your NTSC tv (if you have one).

Does anyone know where the cheapest site I can buy the swap magic and 2 flip covers is?

I saw that the Giant Store has it for $33 with one case + $16 for an extra case and another $10 for shipping. The total goes to $59.

Is it possible to get this all for under $50? I already paid $40 for the game and it is the only import I have....

You don't need a full case.. just a fliptop lid or slidecard if you have an old chunky PS2.. or a replacement fliptop lid or magic keys/ghost keys if you have a slimline PS2... plus the swap magic cd/dvds of course..
Shouldn't be more than around $40 in total I would say.. but for a little more money you could have it modded with a modchip.

Although, I noticed there is now version 3.8 of swap magic on some sites and this link is 3.6, but at swapmagic3.com, they say v 3.6 is the most recent. Is there really a v 3.8?

Also, I would need one more flip top because I have two systems.
