Okay, I recently bought Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and I needed to get a new video card to run it. Currently, I'm running an Nvidia GeForce MX 420. I got an ATI Radeon X1300 Pro and after deleting our drivers and following all the instructions, the screen was blank when we booted it. After a bit of research, I found out my mobo was running off AGP 2.0 and that I needed 3.0 . What I wanted to know was if there is a way I can download AGP 3.0 or if I need to buy a new mobo altogether. Incase that was not the problem, (I heard about backwards compatibility) would downloading the ATI drivers before installing the video card fix this problem?

Is there any way you could possibly install both vid cards at the same time? This would allow you to see on the gforce, and install the ati drivers, then you could remove the gforce and see if the ati worked.

Try putting the gforce back in and installing ati drivers, it may work, other wise i cant help you.

I would seriously doubt that the motherboard that you have will run the ATI video card that you have. I would bet the farm that it won't.

You cannot download the specs for "AGP 3.0" since it's more hardware related. AGP 2.0 is AGP 4x and AGP 3.0 is 8x, 8x cards -will- work in 4x slots, but will only work at 4x speeds. Proof, being that my workstation pc is using a 9600xt (8x) in a 4x motherboard.
If when you boot with the ATi, you can't even see anything before the Windows boot/load screen, then there is either a BIOS or hardware problem (dead card or motherboard trace or component broken). Since your x1300 ATi is sort-of new, make sure that if it has a power connector, it's connected (to the PSU). Make sure the card is seated well in the AGP slot too.
Uhmmm, that's about all I can think of, besides returning the card for another and trying again.

Good point, my video card (x800) has to plugged into the power supply or else it doesnt get enough power, I guess you can check that then eh?
