for UMD dumping you will either want to use fastloader 0.7 or daxumddumper. for running the dumps you will undoubtedly want to use devhook as it emulates firmwares high as 2.71 and can also load UMD backups (ISO files). http://www.psp-hacks.com hosts all these files.

1.) download and install WinRAR if it isnt already
2.) extract the contents of the fastloader archive, you will have the fast loader folder.
3.) go inside of fastloader until you see PSP, ISOMISC, ISOSPLIT, and ISO.
4.) Take all four of the aforementioned folders and drop them to the root of your memstick.

it doesnt stay the same while emulating 2.71 with devhook because it actually switches to 2.71. all you have to do is hold the power button up for 3-10 seconds until screen goes black then turn your psp back on and youll be back at 1.5. if you input any settings to 1.5 they will be saved for 1.5. If you input any settings for 2.71 they will be saves also. none of the settings override each other. they are saved separetly. is that what you were referring to? if not can you try to be more descriptive.

Hello, I have fastloader V0.7 and am trying to dump a umd. I go to split file into 400mb per part and when it gets done writing the first part. I turn on the usb and save to pc. When I start again it just starts writing part 1 again instead of moving on to part 2.I also dont see the splitted file anywhere on pc or psp. What should I do?

You'll have to downgrade to firmware 1.5, here's a guide:

fastloader is quick and easy, just dont worry when it says "deleting your flash" :)

Dont spam the forums with question threads, just post your questions here at me and kealvalro's FAQ center! http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/430773

im gonna have to just buy a used psp from the mall and put an extended warranty to downgrade to 1.5 (or brick it!) because i loke my psp too muach to risk bricking it (also its new) like new in the day before yesterday new and i invested too many game to do it to this one :) so i will be buying a used one and do some experimenting!!.... and hope i dont brick it!!

macho, I felt just like you did, I had a 1.52>2.00, had gta, swbfII and eloader and thought I had everything. One day it all just got a little old, and the benefits of having 1.5 were getting better day by day. Then more downgraders came out, and I began to hear that the 2.0 to 1.5 downgrade is the safest downgrade possible. I just checked if my psp was a ta-082, and it wasn't. Since doing mine Ive downgraded around 25-30 psp's, most were 2.0's, the rest I took to 2.71 and used that downgrader. Take all precautions when doing it (no umd in drive, full battery, plugged in to the ac adapter) follow the directions down to a T, and it'll work. Dont do anything jug-headed like unplug the ac adapter or shut down or restart while downgrading and you'll be fine

uhm...

thank you very much hydra... i apreciate people like you.... :) also but i will still buy me a used psp to do the downgrade simply because i use my web browser alot, so of course i will leave my psp stock and do the downgrade to a used one.... (not for a precautionary but because id like to have the web browser feature available) ...i know i can upgrade again... but what a headache going back and forth, back and forth, also firmware is just like flash memory but wears out more quicker, so to speak 100,000 read/write cycles but less cycles.... remember each time you turn on you psp....(its a cycle) so id like to preserve that aspect... also some new games come out and they need a manditory upgrade to play them... like my megaman wants me to upgrade to 2.6... then to go back to 1.5 just to play another game...?? so i will listen to you hydra and go ahead and downgrade... but it will be the used one i purchase... and leave the new one with new firmware as they come out... for new games... and the other one for old games.... (pre 2006)...well like i mentioned before i use the web browser alot.. and other stuff.. but still thanx a million to you and other out there... ... .. now only if there was a chat program out there (in wifi and psp network) so i can chat with my neighbors like i do with my DS picto chat...)

i want my 8 track that plays mp3 back!!!
