ISO is an 'image' of a disc, and it doesnt matter what type of disc
cd/dvd/umd ANYTHING
a psp which supports kernel mode homebrew can support a program called 'devhook'
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/673
devhook can load these iso umd backups - to play directly off your memory stick
you need version 1.50 firmware.

Just to clatify...
The answer is no, they are not the same.
An ISO is a disk image as described above.
Homebrew is unlicensed software(ie. not released by Sony) that you can run on your PSP. This means games, utilities, applications etc etc.

yep you got it. and most of these homebrew applications are only available to users with 1.50 version PSP's.

oh I c, cheers to all the pros! I hv read from the forum that besides fw 1.5 can play homebrew, now there's a kind of "eloader" that can allow fw2.6 and above to play homebrew without downgrading?

downgrading is thought to be the better option and with a really small chance of bricking your PSP if you do everything right.
what version is your PSP?

is it a TA-082 cause if not then why not just downgrade it meaning use a 2.0 gta umd and downgrade or upgrade to 2.71 then downgrade i mean eloader is fine but if you can then might as well get 1.5

i would consider downgrading. nothing is better than an actual 1.5 PSP.

Does that mean there r no actual adv if u hv psp 2.6 n above? Since if u can simulate ur 1.5 to higher fw anytime.

yeah at the moment if you use devhook you are able to simulatew upto 2.71 which means you get all the extras, internet explorer etc.

yeah so just downgrade mate and tell us how it goes fingers crossed it wotn brick! but it shouldn if your psp is downgradable and hasn been tampered with!

what do you mean by void warrenty thiers nothing that will do that you can even check if you have the right mother board with out even takeing your psp apart here's the link

and if you have the non TA-0812 upgrade to 2.71 with this link

then use the easy downgrader it installs all files for you that way you dont have to worrie about makeing mistakes

and yeah MAKE SURE YOU POWER PLUG IN AND YOU HAVE AT LEAST 75% BATTERY POWER trust me you dont want psp going off when downgradeing

cos i tot if u downgrade, then send back to sony for any reasons, they'll not honour it cos u temper with the software. Pls correct me if i'm wrong.

theres little chance that you will brick the psp if u have the right motherboard and even so just what every one esl round here dose call sony and lie your butt off lol trust me it works

i order to do that your going to need alot about codeing and a 1.00 firmwire on your psp its not something you can just get up one day and do it takes a lot of time and skill
