Are you sure because I have a jap 2.6 psp that I downgraded with non tao82 board using the 2.6/2.5 downgrader and never had any problem, I had also played splinter cell on it before downgrading it.
Or are you on about playing the jap version of the games

just make sure that someone confirms first whether they are talking about the japan version of games because the non japanesse games (splinter cell) it didn't do anything to my psp otherwise I would have had a brick when I downgraded it but I had never played japanesse games on it at all

good luck but I don't think you will really need it just make sure you use a genuine sony memory card freshly formatted with a confirmed working version of the downgrader
