Okay I've been through all the threads I could find on what could be done on how to get my UMD Reader working but to no avail it is done (I found this one the most helpful http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/393161). SO I need to get me a replacement (if anyone has trusted/know of good sites or could help me out in sourcing one please post via PM ;) Thanx) as well as find a nice PICTURED tutorial so as to do it right.

So I put this out to all of our aD'ers, if anyone can post up a nice looking clearly explained tutorial I will pin/sticky it. As an added bonus I am going to request the PSP section be expanded to at least 1 more forum area (probably named PSP Hardware/Software Modding) so as to have a little more structure similar to the other console areas.

well it is easy to find the parts but most of the tutorials dont go as far as removing the UMD drive. EDIT also my psp wasnt reading UMDS for a while but when i dropped it a few inches by accident it began to read them again(lol but im sure you dont want to do that ;)

After reading up on a few links and seeing pics I think I will just have to wait until something else falls in my lap or somehow "trade" it in etc. Damn shame too because the person that gave it to me (that's right FREE!) bought it as a present but the UMD wasn't working from day 1 so so they had to buy ANOTHER one instead of exchanging it!

It's a mint first version never modded PSP (until I got my hands on it) so I would really like to just replace the drive as I am not sure if it is the laser or drive assembly...I hear the disc spin but I don't think the laser moves side to side & I have tried everything

1) Start from closest position to hub and boot and move 1 spot and boot etc.

2) Hard resets/boots

3) The old drop a little bit to see if it "knocks" something into place (not damaging the PSP itself though)

4) Different UMD's

Hey no big deal I have been wanting one since day one and I am not complaining about a free PSP....so I am just stuck with lots o' emulators, videos and dev hook for internet etc. it still provides enjoyment when needed!

P.S. iPirate I don't understand what you where trying to show me?
