runs your battery down faster, and isnt required majority of the time.

some emulators need it from my experience - but i avoid running my psp too quickly.

that has been fixed in most versions actually. it pretty much just causes devhook to freeze when loading an iso file.

Well i wouldnt be too concerned about running your PSP at 333mhz considering that firmware 1.0 constantly ran at that speed.

333mhz only works with 2.6 with dh 0.45.

Devhook 0.46 fixed that issue(works even with 2.71 fw).

sometimes when emulating 2.71 fw it freezes and if you are playin gta it will take ages to load or it will flicker and the sound will distort, i have downloaded a patch for dev hook which lets you chang e cpu clock while emulating firmware

First when u turn on yout PSP u should boot Up with
222 Mghz , Emulate the 2.71 Firmware , then go back to 1.5 ( By choosing it under GAME=>MEMORY STICK ). then set the Speed this time at 333 Mghz , and boot up again , then you wont have FREEZING problem . for me if i want to boot the first time with 333 , it freezes at the start up.
