Hello,

I want to free up the PCI slots on my pc so I was wondering how I do this, do I have to unintall any drivers or anything and how do I do this or do you just open the case and just take them out and the pc just forgets about them. The card I wanted to remove was a firewire card which I've never used and put in a USB 2 card in instead.

Thank You For Your Help.

It would be wise to remove all software and drivers, but you can just take a board out of the PCI slot and put another one on, assuming you have an operating system that has plug-n-play.

*sigh* disconnect -everything- from the case, remove the card, do not delete drivers as they are most likely the XP supplied ones, buy a USB2.0+1394a combo card, install card, reconnect all cords, turn on, install drivers for combo card, enjoy.

When evolution selects its agents, it does so at a cost, makes demands in exchange for singularity, and you may be asked to do something against your very nature. This force, evolution, is not sentimental. Like the Earth itself, it knows only the hard facts of life's struggle with death. All you can do is hope and trust that when you have served its needs faithfully, there may still remain some glimmer of the life you once knew.
