Hey everyone!

I've just recently downgraded my PSP from 2.6 to 1.5, in a fit of impotent rage at my inability to run what is arguably the best part of having a PSP - Homebrew.

Anyway, I used the easy downgrader to shove my machine to 1.5, and installed devhook .046 to allow me to play an iso of Valkyrie Profile (heh).

Anyway, I tried downloading some pre-formatted videos off of Google Video (namely episodes of Penn & Teller's show), which I had been able to view prior to my downgrading. I only needed to rename them as with all MP4s to watch. Not even as AVCs, so the files were called "M4V*****.mp4" rather than "MAQ*****.mp4", and they worked.

Unfortunately, my newly 1.5 PSP only recognizes the files as corrupted data. I read in my research that 1.5 FW's don't do this "AVC" dance, and so I rolled up devhook and restarted my baby emulating 2.71 Firmware. However, the PSP also refuses to recognize the files, calling them "Unsupported".

What should I do? I've heard that downloading the video as a google video (the "Windows/Mac" download option) and converting them with common PSP-compatible video converters (PSP Video 9) will work. Does it?

Thanks for any help or advice you can give. I've searched the forum and the help there doesn't seem specific enough to my case, y'see.

*EDIT:*

Look at this. This is from the video.google.com site.

If you haven't already, download the firmware upgrade from the official PlayStation site: http://www.us.playstation.com/PSP/Support/SystemUpdate.

You said that you have the 1.5 firmware. Google is saying that you have to upgrade your firmware..
I think that you have to upgrade.

If you use the "Windows/Mac", DONT!
There are three choices when you use the scrollbar thing

1. Windows/Mac (Not this)

2. Video iPod (Not this)

3. Sony PSP (This one)

Then press Download...

Then rename it to M4V(5 numbers) Fx. M4V12345.

That's It!

If that still doesnt work, Sometimes there is a VIDEO folder at some memory sticks at the MS_ROOT. Set it in there.

Enjoy!

im here.

That's my problem! I AM downloading with the "Sony PSP" option, and they DON'T work! Not even when I attempt to view them while using devhook to emulate 2.71!

Oh, hey, it works! I used PSP Video 9 to convert some of my downloaded Google Videos and they work fine! Yay!
