Best DVD to AVI? and will this work?

As my collection of movies is growing and we are moving into a new house with a theater room, I really would like to clean things up a bit. Right now we watch all of our movies from DVD's which can be a pain to organize them. I'm going to go ahead and purchase a new Windows Media Center PC and I think it may be easier to rip all of my DVD's into AVI files so I can easily sort them, view them, and play them all. Most of the AVI's I have seen look pretty darn nice.

Is their anything out there that can help me convert easily? Any one do-all program? Does Windows Media Center have any issues with AVIs?

I have never had a problem with AutoGK. The quality of the AVI file is up to you. You set what size you want and what audio format you want. I usually keep the 5.1 AC3 audio and keep the whole file size just under 2GB. Of course the smaller you go, the less quality you have. You might enjoy tinkering with the settings.
